...how can i be?...

Recently, I was voted to be the features editor of our school paper.... I definitly thought that it is a big responsibility for me... Another thing, i'll be writing an english article for this newspaper... O-oh! I am not that good in english....but i can speak. I'm afraid of the thought that i can't be a good writer and editor as well.... even if i have a partner (that's ate hermae), i'm still nervous about it. I'm used to write poems and short stories in tagalog, but not in english.... I'm wondering if how i'm gonna handle this... This is my first time to be an editor. I was a corespondent only last year... so this "editor" thingy is so unusual for me. Eventhough the work is not yet started, I'm thingking that i can't do it. That, I, as a student full of schedules, can't handle that kind of thing. Sure i'm a consistent honor student but that doesn't mean that i can do everything... Guys, wish me luck in this new journey of mine... i'll do my best just to fulfill the expectations of sir dennis... ^_^

...buhay nga nman...

Th_life

"Ang buhay parang gulong, minsan nasa itaas ka, minsan naman, nasa ibaba ka." Are you familiar with that saying? Do you believe in that? How about this one, "Ikaw ang gumagawa ng iyong tadhana." Isn't it true? That's LIFE!

About the first saying... that's totally true. Why is that?! Because no one living in this world is PERFECT. You are not always on the top, especially when you are so boastful about it. Your boastfulness will eat you up and you'll end up below. Get it?! And the continuation, when you're below the ground, of course, you will do your best to be on the top again. Wala naman sa ating gustong manatili sa ibaba, diba? That's just a simple cycle, or what i said, a gulong.

For the second saying... That's definitly true. Why?! Simply because no one knows what will your destiny be. We had a discussion about that earlier in our class. A concrete example is.. You want to be destined to be rich. How will you be rich if you're not doing anything? That's what my classmate Zaira said. And It's true! You are the one who's making your destiny. 'Yang mga horoscopes, those are only "guide" for your future. Don't rely on it because it has no scientific basis.

Just what i said, ikaw ang gumagawa ng destiny mo. Ikaw lang ang makapagsasabi kung ikaw ay pupunta sa ilalim o ibabaw. It's your life. So you should decide on it...

...ang aking tula, BOW!...

We made a poem by ourselves and i ended up making this makabag-bagdamdaming tula of mine.....asus!!!!! :)

                                     Sariling Atin, Mahalin!

Mga Kastila, Ingles at salitang Latin

                           Banyagang wika, bumabalot sa atin.

                              Kailan kaya natin tatangkilikin

                             Sariling atin, kailan mamahalin?

Sa pagtungo natin sa ibang lupain

Wika natin ay patuloy na gamitin.

Kausap man ay may ibang layunin,

Itatak sa isip, Pilipino pa rin.

                          Kaya't kapatid, ako'y nagsusumamo

Dinggin niyo po sana ang paliwanag ko.

                             H'wag ikaila na ika'y Pilipino.

                          Taas noo, wika'y ipagmalaki mo!

What do you think??? Masyado bang pangit? okey lang.... It's just my poem..... :) I just wanna share...... :)

...friendship...

I've been thinking lately about friendship and those who are friends. It seems that there is almost no end to those trying to define 'friendship,' so who am I to buck the trend.

There are, of course, different degrees of friendship. Dan Bennett said, "Nothing in the world is friendlier than a wet dog." Having been the 'caregiver' for a couple of dogs, I can vouch for the truth of that statement. A dog seems more than ready to have you share in its condition of 'wetness.' But to my mind, that is not necessarily the best type of friendship in which to share.

Someone else said that friendship is when you are willing to give up something of yourself to or for your friend. Again, that may not always work out just as we think it should. I read of a couple of boys who were eyeing the last piece of pie. One said to the other, "You know a friend always wants his best friend to have the good stuff." Reaching for the pie he said, "Guess what, today I'm going to be your best friend!" When we have to share whether we want to or not, I'm not sure that's really an example of friendship.

Did you hear about the two friends who were out walking in the woods? They stumbled upon a mama bear and her two cubs. She reared up and gave a loud bellow of warning and rage at the two friends. One of the guys dropped down and began to pray, the other dropped down and tightened his shoelaces. The guy who was praying said, "What are you doing, you can't hope to outrun that bear." To which the second guy replied, "I don't have to out run the bear, I only have to out run you!" Of course the question is, "I thought you were my friend?"

True friendship requires something of us if we want to remain friends.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that true friendship requires something of us if we want to remain friends. True friendship can result in great comfort and support; however, it is a give and take situation. Sometimes we are on the receiving end, while other times we are on the giving end of the relationship. However, there is one friend who is always the giver, always the exhorter, and always the caregiver. That friend, of course, is Jesus Christ — our Lord and best friend.

The old hymn says, "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! ... O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer." Will we allow Jesus to be our friend? Will we be a friend to him and share in the comfort and support which he alone can give us?

May our God grant us the understanding of the friendship he offers to us.

...how 2 prepare for a test...

•  Motivate yourself. Creating and maintaining interest on the preparation for the test and the taking of the test itself will help you remember more important details in the long run.

•  Develop your memory. Your ability to recall important information is crucial for scoring high on a test. Even prior to the studying process, it is important to sharpen up your memory. This can be done by quizzing yourself and reviewing new materials.

Avoid cramming at all costs. Preparing yourself mentally by reviewing regularly even for just a few hours each day will prove helpful when you begin studying for the test. When you cram, you torture your mind by forcing it to recall and process large quantities of information for a very short period of time.

  • Complete all necessary reading materials for test preparation. Compiling all your notes, reading materials, books, articles and other items that are needed in studying will avoid lost time. You would not have waste time on going back and forth to complete your materials. This can also save you from anxiety.
  • Reread the course syllabus, past quizzes and tests, and past assignments. Reviewing the course syllabus will help you absorb the objectives of the course and identify the key areas to study. Reviewing past tests and assignments will help you get acquainted with questions that you can use to test yourself. Retaking these past tests can also prove useful.
  •   Know the format of the test. Take some time to ask the format of the test from your teacher, whether it is a multiple choice, essay type and so on. Moreover, it is necessary for you to know the weight of the different question types in the test.
  • Set a schedule for yourself. Effective preparation involves time management. Create a schedule that will illustrate the number of hours you plan to spend everyday for studying. Also indicate which courses you will be studying for a given period of time.
  • For the preparation period, decide on how you will balance your time between studying for the test, regular school work and personal time. For the preparation period, you might have to reduce your time for leisure and relaxation.
  • Locate a good place to study. Prior to studying itself, it will be helpful if you can identify a location that has the least amount of distraction. It would be best to have a place with no television, radio or telephone. The library can be a good place.
  • Gather study aids and guides. Visit your library or bookstore and browse through study guides. Doing so can help you by giving you practice tests and practical tips.
  • Create study groups with your peers. This is especially effective for courses with long course syllabi. The topics and subtopics can be divided among your group such that each person can concentrate on several topics and can create outlines for you to study. Study groups can be very efficient when done seriously.
  • Identify the major areas of study. Recall the subjects given much emphasis during lectures and tests. This will help you focus your energy in the right place.
  • Finally, decide on how soon you can start studying. Preparing for an exam begins with a conscious decision to start studying.

Preparing for a test, does not entirely and solely depend on studying. It involves taking some mental and practical tips into actions. Psyching up yourself for the test by doing mental preparations can help you use your mind more efficiently. Practically, studying can be a breeze by creating a schedule for yourself, budgeting your time wisely and exhausting all possible materials for study.

...Father's Day...

Father's Day is a celebration inaugurated in the early twentieth century to complement Mother's Day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting, and to honor and commemorate fathers and forefathers. Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves gift-giving to fathers and family-oriented activities. In 2008, it will be celebrated on June 22nd in most countries.

In the Roman Catholic tradition, Fathers are celebrated on Saint Joseph's Day, commonly called Feast of Saint Joseph, March 19, though in most countries Father's Day is a secular celebration.

In the United States, the first modern Father's Day celebration was held on July 5, 1908, in Fairmont, West Virginia or on June 19th of the same year, in the state of Washington. Today, Father's Day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of June.

In West Virginia, it was first celebrated as a church service at Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South, now known as Central United Methodist Church. Grace Golden Clayton, who is believed to have suggested the service to the pastor, is believed to have been inspired to celebrate fathers after the deadly mine explotion in nearby Monongah the prior December. This explosion killed 361 men, many of them fathers and recent immigrants to the United States from Italy. Another possible inspiration for the service was Mother's Day, which had been celebrated for the first time two months prior in Grafton, West Virginia, a town about 15 miles (24 km) away.

Another driving force behind the establishment of the integration of Father's Day was Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd, born in Creston, Washington. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, as a single parent reared his six children in Spokane, Washington. She was inspired by Anna Javris's efforts to establish Mother's Day. Although she initially suggested June 5, the anniversary of her father's death, she did not provide the organizers with enough time to make arrangements, and the celebration was deferred to the third Sunday of June. The first June Father's Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, WA, at the Spokane YMCA.

Unofficial support from such figures as William Jennings Bryan was immediate and widespread. President Woodrow Wilson was personally feted by his family in 1916. President Calvin Coolidge recommended it as a national holiday in 1924. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson made Father's Day a holiday to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June. The holiday was not officially recognized until 1972, during the presidency of Richard Nixon.

In recent years, retailers have adapted to the holiday by promoting male-oriented gifts such as electronics, tools and greeting cards. Schools and other children's programs commonly have activities to make Father's Day gifts.

According to IBISWorld, a publisher of business research, Americans are expected to spend $11 billion on gifts for Father's Day in 2008. This is about $7 billion less than the amount spent on Moms for Mother's Day, which is more steeped in traditional gifts, some of which tend to be more expensive than Father's Day gifts. In economic terms, the average per capita spending on Father's Day is expected to be in the range of $27.60 in 2008, down slightly from $28.97 in 2007, which is indicative of consumer spending while the US is in the midst of a sluggish and unpredictable economy.

...what can we do?...

What can the youth do to solve those problems that our world is undergoing? Is there any way? Of course! WE, youth, can do something about it. We can prevent Global Warming if we want! Here are some suggestions for us to save the world...

Global Warming Prevention Tip #1: Sell your car

According to the Energy Information Administration, the transportation sector overtook industry as the biggest US producer of carbon emissions in 1999, and motor fuel accounts for 60% of total US production of carbon emissions over the past 20 years.

Global Warming Prevention #2: Buy local, eat local

You may have noticed the proliferation of farmer’s markets around the country over the past decade or so. This is not just a quaint fad, but rather a vital, direct-action opportunity to help prevent global warming and increase local food security. When you buy local (and this goes for anything, not just produce), you support local, sustainable economic growth by keeping farmers and other primary producers at work, and your money working to bolster your local economy instead of supporting executives and corporate investors.

Global Warming Prevention Tip #3: Make your local government part of the solution

No politician interested in reelection is going to sponsor the kind of legislation required to alleviate our massive responsibility for global warming without an organized citizenry pushing for better climate legislation. Only when citizen activism shifts this topic into the mainstream will the government move to act on it substantively. Influcing the federal government on this issue may seem daunting, but you can get your local government to help with global warming prevention much more easily.

That's it! It's simple, yet effective!

...nature problem...

On Feb. 2, 2007, the United Nations scientific panel studying climate change declared that the evidence of a warming trend is "unequivocal," and that human activity has "very likely" been the driving force in that change over the last 50 years. The last report by the group, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, in 2001, had found that humanity had "likely" played a role.

The addition of that single word "very" did more than reflect mounting scientific evidence that the release of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases from smokestacks, tailpipes and burning forests has played a central role in raising the average surface temperature of the earth by more than 1 degree Fahrenheit since 1900. It also added new momentum to a debate that now seems centered less over whether humans are warming the planet, but instead over what to do about it. In recent months, business groups have banded together to make unprecedented calls for federal regulation of greenhouse gases. The subject had a red-carpet moment when former Vice President Al Gore's documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," was awarded an Oscar; and the Supreme Court made its first global warming-related decision, ruling 5 to 4 that the Environmental Protection Agency had not justified its position that it was not authorized to regulate carbon dioxide.

The greenhouse effect has been part of the earth's workings since its earliest days. Gases like carbon dioxide and methane allow sunlight to reach the earth, but prevent some of the resulting heat from radiating back out into space. Without the greenhouse effect, the planet would never have warmed enough to allow life to form. But as ever larger amounts of carbon dioxide have been released along with the development of industrial economies, the atmosphere has grown warmer at an accelerating rate: Since 1970, temperatures have gone up at nearly three times the average for the 20th century.

The latest report from the climate panel predicted that the global climate is likely to rise between 3.5 and 8 degrees Fahrenheit if the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere reaches twice the level of 1750. By 2100, sea levels are likely to rise between 7 to 23 inches, it said, and the changes now underway will continue for centuries to come.

...birthday...

many of us prefer to celebrate birthdays in an expensive way. some buy cakes, cooks food such as spaghetti, pancit, and many more. but, answer this. did you ever celebrate your birthday with NOTHING?? i mean, you don't have any cakes and everything? hhmm... sounds boring. but think again. you can celebrate birthday without ANYTHING. just like MY DAD.....

June 13 is his birthday. every year, he doesn't celebrate his BIG day. wanna know why?? it is not because we don't have money or anything. He don't celebrate his birthday because according to him.....'yang mga handang 'yan, wala 'yan! if your loved ones love you back, that's the meaning of BIRTHDAY. you have reason to live in this complicated world because of your friends and loved ones..... tama nga naman. That's the meaning of birthday. ang food, mauubos din yan! ang hindi mo dapat hayaang maubos ay ang iyong acquaintances, friends, relatives, and loved ones. you should not loose them because they are the MEANING of your life.

I have learned another lesson today....and that's because of my father..my loving father. even if minsan, we're so lazy, even if napapagalitan kami, LOVE pa rin namin xa. because without him and mama, wala kami rito.

PAPA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! MAY YOU HAVE MORE BIRTHDAYS TO COME!!!!
